Empires

1. What is an empire? Fx. would a federative country, that conqueres another country and make that country a state in the federation, be considered as an empire?

2. Can empires only be countries or can they also be persons? Fx. in a personal union like the danish-norse-swedish Kalmar union, it wasn´t a danish empire neither a swedish one nor a norse one, but queen Magaret I was queen of all the countries, so could it be called "The empire of queen Magaret"?

3. What have the empires through the history made good and what have they made bad?
